Charm of Vintage Guitars

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Vintage guitars are presents on markets during last 25 years. There are many people who like vintage guitars very much. Vintage means brand, like for example Fender and Gibson clothes. In general vintage guitars include many brands like Alembic Guitars, Aria Guitars, Armstrong guitars, Benedetto guitars and others.
The Alembic vintage guitars are included as a small part in the history of rock’n’roll guitars. There guitars are very popular among guitar players and by guitar plying listeners. Alembic guitars were created in 1969 by Susan and Ron Wickersham. These guitars were designed with the aim to improve the quality of sound both in life concerts and during recoding process.
Those artists who got used to play Alembic vintage guitar won’ agree to change it to the most modern and the newest and the most advanced guitar. But today it is not easy to fins Alembic vintage guitars.

Buying Vintage Guitars vs Buying Custom Shop Guitars

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

To the general public, owning the’genuine article’ is the single thing that will suffice. As a vintage guitar player, and one who appreciates classic’vintage’ instruments, I’m able to fully understand this viewpoint. I cannot think about a single guitar strummer who would not totally love playing a real fifty’s Les Paul or Stratocaster.

first of all, there’s the price of admission. The increasingly robust demand for vintage guitars has driven their costs through the roof and out of reach for many of us. High spec, well looked after original instruments from the 50’s and sixty’s can approach the price of a new automobile, or in some cases a little house!

Another problem facing vintage guitars is their questionable reliability. Although they were built to stand the test of time, a vintage guitar will almost always prove to be more delicate and fragile than a later, more modern version. This won’t be of great importance to a guitar collector, but if you’re meaning to gig with a 50 year old, highly valued piece of guitar history, you may want to think again.

luckily there is an alternative for those among us who love vintage guitars, but find them either too expensive or too unrealistic for our purposes. I am referencing the most recent crop of vintage guitar duplicates, or as they’re better known,’reissues’.

These guitars are made from the best woods, and are almost completely built by hand using time honored techniques. The electronics are custom made to be as true and faithful to the original instrument as is humanly possible.

They come complete with a full guaranty, the sturdiness of a new instrument, and sparkling clean looks. I own many reissue guitars from both Gibson and Fender, and can truthfully say that I’m very impressed with the quality and comprehensive level of detail that these guitars possess. The employment of high quality woods give them a tone which is a cut above normal, and knowing that parts are readily available helps add some confidence.

Though nothing will ever replace the’vibe’ and nostalgia related to the real thing, the high cost and impossibility of a vintage instrument for common use, makes owning a reissue a particularly attractive alternative. Will a reissue ever sound like its well aged 50 years old counterpart? Possibly not, except for us players with an appreciation for classic instruments, a Custom Shop reissue from the first manufacturer is very tough to beat.

    Vintage Guitars as an Investment

    Monday, April 12th, 2010

Every guitar player that has ever been born lives for the day when he/she can pick up a vintage guitar. Vintage guitars are available in all major manufacturers and brands. But it’s not only musicians and guitar enthusiasts that are attracted to these masterpieces. Vintage guitars can also be viewed as an investment.

You’re probably saying to yourself right now “How can a guitar be an investment?”, “Is buying a vintage guitar really a good investment?” Allow me to enlighten you a little. To the untrained eye, a guitar is a guitar. Now we aren’t talking about the walls of instruments you see at Guitar Center or Sam Ash. We are talking about those special few extraordinary guitars that just scream to be torn into.

Guitars are a great investment for a few reasons. First, they are beautiful and command a room where they are displayed. Second, vintage guitars don’t depreciate or lose value with time. On the contrary, these babies appreciate and gain value as they age, especially if they are kept up nicely. Third, they have superior tonality and action when played due to the quality workmanship that went into their construction.

Undoubtedly, the most popular is the Les Paul by Gibson. This guitar carries the name of the man who invented the solid body electric guitar. In the 1960’s, the Les Paul was just about THE choice of instrument. These are still made today, but the older ones were made of superior materials like mahogany and oak. Some even had gold frets and mother of pearl inlays on the fret board.

Fender also has a stranglehold on a couple of highly sought after guitars, especially the Stratocaster, the Telecaster and the Thunderbird. These were favorites among blues and rock players alike. Again, the ones everybody wants were made in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Certainly among the reigning Kings of vintage guitars are those made by the CF Martin company. Martin emigrated here from Europe in the late 19th century and set up shop in New York. The craftsmanship he imparted is not only extraordinary. It is absolutely earth shattering. Martin pioneered the X-bracing system for acoustic guitars adding years to the longevity of the instruments he made. Many Martin’s are still in use at nearly 100 years old!

Guild is another vintage guitar that is vastly overlooked these days. Guild was only in operation for about 25 years and was bought by Fender in the 1990’s. Some of the older Guild guitars are extremely rare and sought after as they exhibited the same quality as the Martin instruments of the same time period.

Every one of these guitar manufacturers has made an exceptional line of guitars. Players like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark and Les Paul have chosen them time and time again as their guitar of choice.

When bought as an investment, the vintage ones hold the possibility of giving a fantastic ROI (return on investment).

Collecting Vintage Guitars As an Investment Strategy

    Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Every guitar player around wants to pick up a fine vintage instrument like those played by the legends. However, these days there are more than just musicians looking for masterpiece instruments from the 1930s through the early 1970s.

Vintage guitars are a great investment that only increases in value. You might be asking yourself whether a guitar can really be a good investment. After all, to the untrained eye, most guitars are the same. However, the right guitar can be worth a lot to a collector. Guitars that have been owned by celebrities, or which are rare or unusual, can command very high prices indeed. If you’re worried about getting a return on your money, don’t be.

Vintage guitars have consistently performed with more stability than the stock market. There are a number of reasons that collecting vintage guitars is an excellent strategy. For one, they’re more tangible than a stock or bond. They give you an attractive piece to display, and are fun to collect, too. Guitars also don’t lose value over time. In fact, it’s just the opposite – vintage guitars consistently gain value as they get older, as long as you take the time to keep them in good condition. They’re also usually superior instruments.

If you’re a musician as well as an investor, you’ll appreciate the superior action and tone of a real vintage instrument. The most popular vintage guitar with collectors is probably the Gibson Les Paul. Gibson invented the modern electric guitar, and in the 1960s, the Les Paul was one of the best instruments available. While these are still made today, they don’t stand up to the quality of older models, which are made of oak, mahogany, and other fine materials. You can even find examples with mother of pearl and gold inlays! Another brand you’ll probably recognize is Fender. The Telecaster, Stratocaster, and Thunderbird are all great models that remain favorites. The best were made in the 1950s and 1960s. After that, Fender guitars are less valuable. Learn about the guitars that carry the best value before you buy, so you’ll be able to make a smart decision. CF Martin is yet another of the great vintage guitar brands. These amazing acoustic instruments are among the finest, and have craftsmanship that can’t be matched. Martin invented the use of the X-bracing system in acoustics. That means that his instruments lasted for far longer than competitors’. Some of the original Martin guitars are now nearly a hundred years old. Collectible CF Martin guitars are valuable up through the 1960s models. Guild guitars are great vintage instruments, too, but they’re a lot less famous. That’s because the company only did business for about twenty-five years before Fender bought it in the 1990s. Older Guild instruments are very rare, and considered on par with Martin guitars of the same period. Any of these instruments would be a great investment piece for musicians, or anyone who loves music. Even if you just like the look of a beautiful old guitar, think about purchasing a vintage one.

You’ll be surprised at what a good investment it could turn out to be. If you are interest in getting started collecting vintage guitars for fun and profit or even if you have been doing so for years and wish to add to your collection, Bob’s Vintage Guitars is a website that you should visit. It has a lot of useful information about vintage guitars and also a great selection of vintage guitars for sale.

    Famous Fender Vintage Guitars

    Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

When playing a vintage guitar one gets the rush of history that guitar has been through and Fender vintage guitars have over 60 years of rock, jazz, country, and funk to feel. Four of the more famous models are the Stratocaster, the Telecaster, the Mustang, and the Precision Bass.

The Fender Startocaster is a solid body, double-cut electric guitar released in 1954 and still in production today. The original model had a solid maple neck, with 21 frets, 2 or 3 single-coil pickups, and came in a 2-color sunburst finish. This model guitar is the original Strat although because its style and features have been so often copied Strat often refers to similar guitars of any manufacturer. The Startocaster has been played by famous people from Buddy Holly in 1958 to Eric Clapton in 2005 and has had over a dozen other famous musicians endorse various signature models.

The Fender Telecaster, originally called the Esquire and the Broadcaster, was released in 1949 and is still in production. This is the oldest model of the four Fender vintage guitars and hold the title as the longest continually produced solid-body electric guitar. This is a solid-body with two single coil pickups and a fixed bridge. The Telecaster has been played by dozens of famous musicians over the years including Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck. Variations of the Telecaster include the Telecaster Thinline with two Fender Wide Range pickups, the Deluxe with two Fender Wide Range humbucking pickups, and the Custom with single-coil pickup in the bridge and a Fender Wide Range pickup in the neck position. All originally released in 1972 and still produced today.

The Fender Mustang is a solid-body electric guitar with 2 single-coil pickups. Originally produced from 1964 through 1982 it has since been reintroduced and continues to be produced. The 1960s models can now sell for over $1,500.

The Fender Precision Bas (P-Bass) was the first mass-produced electric vintage bass guitar. It was released in 1951 and is still produced today. The original model had a single pickup, 20 frets, and was styled after the Telecaster. In 1957 the P-Bass was redesigned to resemble the Stratocaster and in three years later 1960 had its single pickup replaced with a split-coil pickup wired in humbucking mode. The Telecaster like model was brought back in 1968 as the Telecaster Bass.

The Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company was founded by Clarence Fender in 1946 originally based in California. Now called Fender Musical Instruments Corporation it is located in Arizona however it still has manufacturing facility in California as well as Mexico. Other Fender vintage guitars include the Duo-Sonic (1956-1969), the Jaguar (1962-1975), and the Starcaster (1976-1982). Some of these have been reintroduced and are being produced today.

Where Can You Buy Electronic Keyboards And Electric Guitars On The Internet?

    Saturday, March 27th, 2010

When you are going to buy electronic keyboards or guitars from the internet the task of buying becomes all the more complicated because there are so many procedures involved. Not only is making payment risky on some sites but there is no guarantee that the site you are buying from will give you a quality product in return for your money. Sometimes you can pay your money and wait for months but still the product doesn’t arrive.

When you call their office no one picks up the call and if you are unlucky you could find that it was a scam. To help you know which sites are real and which are fake, which will give you quality products and service. We have come up with the top two sites on the internet that will help you when you want to buy electronic keyboards.

The best site would be eBay, this site can deliver to your area and the price of products and shipping costs are clearly disclosed. The quality of service provided is very high and so far there have only been a handful of complaints against eBay where products have been damaged during delivery.

Not only will your product reach you safely but eBay will give you a complete guide to help you buy an electronic keyboard online. Also with every product they advertise, they give discounts (highest of all online sites) and will give you a full product description and answer all queries that you may have.

The next site that can help you when you buying guitars and electronic keyboards online is Amazon. At this site when you go to the products page you will get a picture and full blown description of the keyboard you are trying to buy. At Amazon you can get various discounts, there is the discount where you get the shipping charges free along with the discount in prices. Sometimes accessories are also given for free.

Other than that, they deliver to your doorstep and you can also choose different delivery options. So if you ever decide to buy a Yamaha electronic keyboard or a classic Fender electric guitar online then these are my two recommended sites for safe shopping.

    Fender Electric Guitars

    Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Fender electric guitars were the first solid body electric guitars to be offered on the mass market. Other companies actually fabricated and sold electric guitars before the Fender Company, but none were as commercially successful as Fender’s. In fact, the general consensus is that it is the Fender Company that is responsible for the electric guitar frenzy that swept through the world of popular music with the introduction of their Fender Telecaster. The Broadcaster was actually the first solid body electric guitar, but Fender made it economically feasible to mass produce it with only a few slight variations in the next model, the Telecaster. Fender’s Telecaster served as the inspiration for other manufacturers to make their own versions of the solid body electric guitar.

Other famous models include the Stratocaster, the Jazzmaster, the Mustang, the Jaguar, and the Duo-sonic. Countless more models exist though they are less known.

Fender electric guitars are manufactured Mexico and Asia as well as in the United States. The highest quality guitars are those made in the US. The Squier brand, also manufactured under the Fender name, is the most economically priced electric guitars and they are produced in the Asian countries.

The Fender Company began as an electronic repair business. Founder Leo Fender began much of his work improving already existing and designing new musical amplifiers. Fender is still known today for its fine quality and innovation in amps.

Some of Fender’s electric guitar signature features include the larger headstock shape and bound necks with block shaped position markers. The neck joint on most electric guitars is a four-bolt joint, but in Fender guitars, it is now a three-bolt joint intended for better sound. Fender electric guitars are also identified by a second string tree for the middle G and D strings. Another signature feature is the semi-hollow body design and completely different headstock of the Fender Stratocaster. This model also incorporates a Humbucking pickup designed by Seth Lover.  Some people maintain that the Fender Standard Stratocaster electric guitar is the guitar that changed the world with its alder body, 21 fret maple neck with a rosewood or maple fretboard, 3 single-coil pickups, a vintage tremolo, and die-cast tuning keys.

The Stratocaster comes in a wide choice of cool colors as well, including Sage Green Metalic, Blue Agave, Brown Sunburst, Midnight Wine, and Arctic White. Such colors add a unique quality to an already awesome guitar.

The Fender electric guitar is an excellent choice for the serious guitarist who wants a famous brand at an affordable price.
